Which method should you use?

The Downloader method works for almost everyone and takes about five minutes. Use the USB method only if your TV can't reach Google Play (some region-locked boxes) or you already have the APK on a computer.

Method 1: Downloader app with code 1910890

Downloader icon Code: 1910890

1
Install Downloader from Google Play
Open the Play Store on your TV, search "Downloader by AFTVnews", and install it. It's free.
2
Allow Downloader to install apps
Go to Settings → Apps → Security & Restrictions → Unknown Sources (wording varies slightly by brand) and switch Downloader ON. On some Sony and TCL sets the path is Settings → Device Preferences → Security & Restrictions.
3
Enter 1910890 and press Go
Open Downloader, type the code into the box on its home screen, and press Go. The HiTV download page loads on the TV.
4
Download, install, open
Select the download button, wait for the APK, confirm Install, then Open. Downloader will offer to delete the installer file; accept.

Method 2: USB drive (manual sideload)

1
Download the APK on a computer
Get HiTV.apk from the download page and copy it to a FAT32 or exFAT formatted USB stick.
2
Install a file manager on the TV
"File Commander" or "FX File Explorer" from Google Play both work. Many TVs ship with one preinstalled; check your app list first.
3
Plug in the stick and open the APK
Browse to the USB drive in the file manager, select HiTV.apk, and confirm the install. Allow the file manager as an install source when asked, exactly like the Downloader permission above.

Android TV specific notes

HiTV doesn't appear on the home row

Android TV's home screen only promotes Play Store apps. Sideloaded apps live in the full app drawer: press the Apps button on your remote or the circle icon on the home screen. On some launchers you can add it manually with customize channels. If you want one-press access, apps like "Sideload Launcher" list every sideloaded app in a clean grid.

"App not installed" error

Usually a leftover from a previous HiTV install with a different signature (for example, switching between the official APK and the mod build). Uninstall the old copy under Settings → Apps first, then install fresh.

Remote navigation feels off inside the app

Make sure you installed the standard APK from code 1910890, which detects TV devices. If focus gets stuck somewhere, pressing back once usually resets it. Persistent problems are worth a mention through our contact page.

Own a Chromecast or a newer Google TV set? The steps are slightly different because Google TV buries the unknown-sources switch deeper. Use the dedicated Google TV guide instead.
